SOLUTION: The rolling oil composition for metal working comprises a base oil and, incorporated therewith, a sulfur-containing compound represented by general formula (I): R1OOC-R2-Sx-R3-COOR4(I) (wherein R1and R4are each independently a 1C-20C hydrocarbon group; R2and R3are each independently a 0C-6C hydrocarbon group; and x is an integer of 1-3) in an amount of 0.01-70 mass% based on the whole composition.
