METHOD OF DETECTING FLAPPING IN CUTTING BLADE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cutting blade flapping detection method capable of easily detecting the amount of flapping in a cutting blade. SOLUTION: The cutting blade flapping detection method includes: a cutting means for cutting a plate-like material by the cutting blade 28 having an cutting edge 50; and a blade detection means 80 that is arranged at one side in the rotating-shaft direction of the cutting blade and detects distance to the cutting blade. The cutting blade flapping detection method has: a permissible value setting process for setting a flapping permissible value T of the cutting blade; a distance detection process for detecting the distance to the cutting blade under rotation for a plurality of times by the cutting blade detection means 80, while rotating the cutting blade 28; a flapping amount calculation process for calculating the difference between the maximum value M and the minimum one (m) in distance detected by the distance detection process; and a determination process for comparing an (M-m) value calculated by the flapping amount calculation process with the flapping permissible value T set by the permissible value setting process to determine that the cutting blade is faulty, when the (M-m) value is larger than the flapping permissible value T.
