Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projection video display device capable of improving contrast of a display image while reducing the influence od returning light or undesired light to a light source device and optical parts. SOLUTION: The projection video display device has a light control device 30 which has a pair of reflection mirrors 30a and 30b arranged to be inclined so that light emitted from the light source device 10 may enter an illumination optical system nearly perpendicularly and performing opening/closing operation nearly symmetrically right and left, and adjusts the quantity of light from the light source device by reflecting the light emitted from the light source device 10 at a predetermined ratio by the reflection mirrors 30a and 30b.
