Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a laser beam welding method and a laser beam welding apparatus which do not require a cutting device and a cutting process, which are inexpensive and with which weld time is shortened when performing the butt welding of metal plates. SOLUTION: A laser beam 12 is emitted to a part to be welded on at least one side of a pair of opposed metal plates 6 and the part to be welded is temporarily melted. Next, the gap is adjusted so that the interval between the parts to be welded of the pair of the metal plates 6 is within an allowable welding gap.
