Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the permeability of an adhesive for fixing an optical fiber to an optical waveguide. SOLUTION: The optical module 1A includes: an optical waveguide 4A having a plurality of fiber guide grooves 42A arranged in parallel to one another where optical fibers 3 are to be inserted, the optical fibers to be optically coupled to a plurality of waveguide cores 40 where light propagates; and a fixed cap 6 that covers the fiber guide grooves 42 where the optical fibers 3 are inserted, and is fixed to the optical waveguide 4A with an adhesive. The optical waveguide 4A has an adhesive permeating groove 44 extending in a direction intersecting the fiber guide grooves 42A and connecting the fiber guide grooves 42A arranged in parallel to one another, at the top ends of the fiber guide grooves 42A where optical fibers 3 are butted. The fiber guide groove 42A has a sidewall 43 having a supporting projection 43a that supports the optical fiber 3 and aligns the fiber to the waveguide core 40 for establishing optical coupling and having an adhesion recess 43b that gives a gap to allow an adhesive to permeate between the wall and the circumference face of the optical fiber 3.
