CIS-FTC OF POLYMORPH AND OTHER CRYSTAL FORM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide FTC of new polymorphic and other crystal form. SOLUTION: A solid phase of amorphous (-)-FTC and (-)-cis-FTC called II and III(-)-cis-FTC which is distinguishable from I(-)-cis-FTC by its powder X-ray diffraction pattern, heat characteristic and production methods is provided. A hydrated crystal form of (±)-cis-FTC (that is, racemic cis-FTC) which is distinguishable from other form of FTC by its powder X-ray diffraction pattern, heat characteristic and production methods in a similar way, and a dehydrated form of the hydrate are also provided. These forms of FTC can be used for producing other forms of FTC or for a pharmaceutical composition. These forms are particularly desirably used for treating HIV or hepatitis B.
