Zusammenfassung: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thin-bladed whetstone with a long service life and capable of keeping good cutting performance for a long time. SOLUTION: The thin-bladed whetstone 1 comprises abrasive grains 2 diffused in a metallic binder 3 so that part of the abrasive grains 2 protrude from the metallic binder. A first metallic layer 4 softer than the metallic binder is formed on a surface of the binder 3. A second metallic layer 5 harder than the first metallic layer 4 is formed on a surface of the first metallic layer 4. A total thickness of the first and second metallic layers 4 and 5 is specified to be a thickness not exceeding a protrusion amount of the abrasive grains 2 from the metallic binder 3. The soft first metallic layer 4 can serve as a shock-absorbing layer when the abrasive grains 2 collide against a workpiece, thereby reducing damage of the workpiece and also preventing the workpiece from being chipped. In addition, since the first metallic layer 4 is coated with the second metallic layer 5 with excellent wear resistance, abrasion of the first metallic layer 4 can be alleviated to attain a long service life.
