Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce power consumption in a liquid crystal display device which conducts display with static drive by applying alternating voltage to a liquid crystal panel. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device includes: a liquid crystal layer 4 of 1 to 3 μm disposed between a lower substrate 1 and an upper substrate 2; transparent electrodes 3 and 5 formed on inner surfaces of one or both substrates; and first insulation films 8 of 0.03 to 3 μm formed between the liquid crystal layer 4 and the transparent electrodes 3 and 5, wherein the frequency of the alternating voltage is 0.5 to 16 Hz.
