PLASMA DISPLAY APPARATUS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve contrast in a plasma display apparatus. SOLUTION: The plasma display apparatus executes display on the plasma display panel, by constituting one field among a plurality of sub-fields. Each sub-field includes an address period for generating address discharge for selecting a discharge cell caused to emit a light, and a maintaining period for generating maintaining discharge by means of the discharge cell selected during this address period. The apparatus includes at least one first field F1, in which an all-cell initializing pulse is generated in all the discharge cells at the heads of lines, at least one second field F2 in which the all-cell initializing pulse is generated in the sub-fields other than those at the heads of the lines; and at least one third field F3, in which the all-cell initializing pulse, is applied to where sub-fields do not exist.
