Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spinning method that provides a silica-containing fiber finely fiberized and has a reduce variation in fiber-diameter. SOLUTION: The method of spinning the silica-containing fiber includes the step of converting a mixed liquid containing the following components (a), (b), and (c) to a viscous sol, and the step of spinning the resulting sol-like spinning dope by an electrostatic spray method carried out in an electric field formed by a potential difference between a charge-applying electrode and a counter electrode. (a) Tetraalkoxysilane and/or its condensate; (b) a silane compound having an amino group represented by the following formula: R4-n-Si-(OR')n(in the formula, R represents an organic group containing an amino group, R' represents a methyl group, an ethyl group, or a propyl group, and n represents an integer selected from 1 to 3); and (c) boric acid.
