NAVIGATION DEVICE AND NAVIGATION METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a navigation device and navigation method allowing a driver to accurately obtain the intersection at which he/she should turn. SOLUTION: A point to be guided, for example, objects existing around a vehicle at an intersection, is photographed by an on-vehicle camera 11 and held by an image holding section 13, an image processing unit 14 extracts an object serving as a landmark (mark) from the photographed objects (stopping and parking vehicle or facilities on the road side), and an information creating-outputting section 30 creates and outputs presentation information corresponding to the feature of the object extracted as the mark. When the driver approaches the intersection or the like set as the point to be guided during route guide by a route guide arithmetic section 20, the information creating-outputting section 30 converts the presentation information into voice information and outputs from a speaker 32, and/or converts it into character-diagram information and outputs it to a display section 33.
