Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus to detect dislodgement of a needle inserted into a patient. SOLUTION: The apparatus comprises a sensor 10 capable of detecting wetness due to blood and a sensor holder 12 adapted to secure the sensor 10 to the patient, such that sensor 10 detects wetness due blood loss from the patient upon dislodgement of the needle 16. Methods and apparatuses for detecting, monitoring and/or controlling blood loss from a patient due to dislodgement of the needle 16 are also provided.
