Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce methanol in an industrially advantageous way from feedstock gases comprising hydrogen, lower hydrocarbon(s) and carbon oxide(s), through constructing a process optimized in terms of energy and productivity. SOLUTION: A method for producing methanol is provided, including a step (A) of separating hydrogen, a step (B) of reforming operation, and a step (C) of methanol synthesis, a multi-tiered step under reaction pressure of 4-9 MPaA, and, from the aspect of methanol productivity, also including a step (D) of retrieving carbon dioxide and a step (E) of adding separated hydrogen. Further, in this method, using coke oven gas, coal-gasified gas, carbon dioxide retrieved in the step (D) and hydrogen separated in the step (A), the composition of the respective feedstock gases to be introduced into the step (A) and the composition of the gases at the inlet of the step (C) are specified.
