METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR CHANGING CONTINUOUS CASTING MOLD WIDTH

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a continuous casting mold width and apparatus capable of surely checking whether a mold short side position is surely moving or not during casting mold width changing. SOLUTION: When changing the pouring width of a slab during continuous casting with a continuous casting machine, temperatures in the mold are measured by a plurality of thermocouples rectilinearly embedded at prescribed intervals across the cross direction of the mold inside the mold long side, and the determination as to whether the short side position of the mold is surely moving or not is performed based on the temperature transition before and after the passage through the mold short side when a width change command is issued.
