METHOD OF PROVIDING CONTENTS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a video-recorded program from being copied or viewed easily by a device of another user. SOLUTION: When a request of playback of contents is received from a playback device 400 via a network 300, a recording and playback device 100 transmits, to the playback device 400, data indicative of contents meeting the request. When target contents are selected from among the transmitted data, the playback device requests the recording and playback device 100 to transmit, to the device 400 itself, data indicative of the selected contents. When the target contents are transmitted to the playback device 400 in response to the request, streaming-play of the contents is performed. When the playback device 400 transmits, to the recording and playback device 100, data indicative of the played-back contents and an address of a recording and playback device 100B, the recording and playback device 100 transmits the played-back contents to the recording and playback device 100B in accordance with the address.
