Zusammenfassung: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To ease the operation control of one-shaft multiple cars by improving transport capacity without increasing the occupied area of an elevator and by simplifying traffic flow. SOLUTION: An elevator system comprises at least one main shaft mainly corresponding to traffic between a basic floor and general floors and at least a second shaft mainly corresponding to traffic between the general floors, wherein a plurality of cars separately running are arranged in the main shaft and a car of the second shaft is made smaller than the cars of the main shaft. The elevator system is characterized in that the general floors of the main shaft are divided into a plurality of zones corresponding to the number of the cars in the shaft, the basic floor of the main shaft is provided with landing doors at the front and the rear, the general floor of the main shaft is provided with a landing door at either the front or the rear in every zone and each car of the shafts is provided with a car door on a landing door side of the zones which the car covers.
