Zusammenfassung: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electroluminescent element capable of expanding chromaticity reproducing range, and to provide a display and an illumination device which use the same. SOLUTION: A metal electrode (lower electrode; counter electrode) 18, a first insulating layer 16, juxtaposed light-emitting layers (R, G, B) 14, a multi-layered interference filter constituted of a second insulating layer (multi-layered interference film) 12, and the upper part transparent electrode 10 (constituted by juxtaposing electrodes for red light, green light and blue light to respectively extract red light, green light, blue light) are laminated on an insulating substrate 20 in this order, and the EL element is formed. Light is emitted from the upper part transparent electrode without through the substrate 20.
