SOLUTION: The new form of HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor fluvastatin (authorized chemical name of fluvastatin is R, S-(E-(±)-7-[3-(4-fluorophenyl)-1-(1-methylethyl)-1H-indol-2-yl]-3,5-dihydroxy-6-heptenoic acid)), especially a highly crystalline form of fluvastatin sodium, referred to as fluvastatin sodium form B is provided. The method for production of fluvastatin sodium form B, the pharmaceutical composition comprising fluvastatin sodium form B and the use of fluvastatin sodium form B in medical treatment are also provided.
