IMAGE FORMING DEVICE AND METHOD FOR CLEANING INTERMEDIATE TRANSFER BODY

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming device capable of excellently maintaining cleaning performance of a cleaning member, hardly affecting the image quality of a recorded image caused by performance deterioration of a cleaning means of an intermediate transfer body and a method of cleaning the intermediate transfer body. SOLUTION: The method of cleaning the intermediate transfer body includes a step of judging whether the next region to be cleaned through the use of a cleaning-process means 16 is an image region with a first image to be formed or a non-image region other than the image region, in an inkjet recording apparatus 10 which transfers and records the first image on a recording medium 14 in a transfer recording part 24 after the first image is formed on an intermediate transfer belt 12. The method includes a step of reducing the supply amount of a cleaning liquid to be supplied from a cleaning liquid supply part 16C by 9-16% in comparison with the cleaning of the non-image region.
