Zusammenfassung: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polarizer in which unevenness of polarizing axes of metal particles is easily suppressed, a manufacturing method thereof, and an optical isolator capable of simplifying an alignment step and improving a contrast ratio by incorporating the polarizer thereto. SOLUTION: When a polarized glass base material containing slender metal particles, the metal particles showing inclinations of polarizing axes, is prepared, a plurality of polarizer chip base materials is cut from the polarized glass base material, and a number of polarizers is further cut from the polarizer chip base material, and a side surface that is a light-impermeable surface of each individual polarizer chip base material is cut along the inclination direction of polarization axes of the polarized glass base material.
