METHOD FOR PRODUCING LIGHT-EMITTING FINE SILICON PARTICLE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve dispersibility to liquid without deteriorating light emitting characteristics in a visible light region, non-toxicity and the like of fine silicon particles. SOLUTION: A method for producing light-emitting fine silicon particles comprises: a step in which a mixture comprising a silicon source and a carbon source is burned in an inert atmosphere; a step in which a product gas is withdrawn from the inert atmosphere and rapidly cooled to obtain mixture powder containing fine silicon particles; a step in which the mixture powder is immersed in an etchant containing hydrofluoric acid and an oxidizing agent to etch the fine silicon particles; and a step (termination treatment) in which hydrogen atoms added to the surfaces of the etched fine silicon particles are replaced with unsaturated hydrocarbon groups having a hydrophilic group.
