DOOR OPENING/CLOSING MECHANISM AND WASHING MACHINE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a washing machine having a door opening/closing mechanism configured to use components in common in both cases of opening a door leftward and rightward when a user selects either of a left-hand or right-hand door. SOLUTION: A base 20 of a locking mechanism 16 of this door opening/closing mechanism 12 is provided with both of a left-hand attachment part 23 and a right-hand attachment part 24. When the locking mechanism 16 is disposed on the right side of a frame opening 3B (a door 1 is opened leftward), a spring 25 for downward urging a first moving body 21 in the locking mechanism 16 connects the first moving body 21 to the left-hand attachment portion 23. When the locking mechanism 16 is disposed on the left side of the frame opening 3B (when the door 1 is opened rightward), the spring 25 connects the first moving body 21 to the right-hand attachment portion 24.
