PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that a processing speed falls and detection performance deteriorates when many intrusion objects come in or when an intrusion object is imaged large in the case that a CPU with a low speed is used because an input image is processed as it is in an object recognition method of the conventional monitoring system. SOLUTION: In this method, the minimum width and height and maximum width and height of a body to be detected are calculated from an imaging condition, an object detection range and the size of the object to be detected. An image reduction coefficient is set on the basis of the calculated minimum width and height and the maximum width and height. Consequently, the object can be detected while detection accuracy of image processing is maintained, and an intruder can be detected at a proper amount of necessary minimum processing at a high speed.
