Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a piston for an internal combustion engine capable of further effectively reducing friction resistance to a cylinder inner wall of a skirt portion. SOLUTION: On a thrust surface 3a of the skirt portion 3 pressing against the cylinder inner call Ca during reciprocating of a piston P, a large number of portal oil guide walls 11 defining oil pockets having inlets 13a opening in a moving direction of the piston P is formed. Oil interposed between the skirt portion 3 and the cylinder inner wall Ca is introduced into the oil pockets 13 with the movement of the piston P, thereby constituting a hydrodynamic fluid bearing between the thrust surface 3a and the cylinder inner wall Ca.
