IMAGE TRANSMISSION METHOD AND SYSTEM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an images transmission method capable of successfully delivering dynamic images compressed by a dynamic image encoding technique even on transmission channels of different transmission speeds. SOLUTION: In an image transmission method for transferring one compressed stream data unit to a plurality of images receiving sections through a plurality of transmission channels of different transmission speeds, one stream data unit contains: at least one I picture; and a plurality of P pictures in a group of pictures (GOP), wherein a plurality of images receiving sections inform the images transfer section of a transmission request which is the number of P pictures to be transmitted. The images transfer section accumulates stream data from the latest pictures until the number of P pictures reaches the requested transmission P pictures. When the accumulation is complete, the image transfer section transmits the latest I picture and succeeding transmission P pictures to an image receiving section which made a transmission request. With this, the number of picture data units to be transmitted is changed by the number of pictures according to the transmission speed of the relevant transmission channel.
