Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a superior antioxidative enzyme inducer inducing the expression of an antioxidative enzyme, a medicinal composition using it and a screening method of the antioxidative substance. SOLUTION: The antioxidative enzyme inducer contains a compound having an α, β-unsaturated bond as expressed by general formula (1). The medicinal composition and the screening method of the antioxidative substance are presented. In the formula, R1represents a hydrogen atom, a 1-8C alkyl group, 3-8C cycloalkyl group, a 1-8C alkenyl group or an aryl group each optionally substituted by a hydroxy group; R2represents a hydrogen atom or a 1-8C alkyl group; R1may bond to Cxin place of the hydrogen atom directly bonded to Cxto form a cyclohexene ring or a cyclohexadiene ring; at least one group selected from among the group consisting of 1-8C alkyl groups and 1-8C alkenyl groups may be substituted on the cyclohexene ring or the cyclohexadiene ring.
