Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic resonance imaging apparatus which can easily measure a wide-ranging region of interest by a small number of surface coils. SOLUTION: The magnetic resonance imaging apparatus 10 has a bed 11, an underlying top board 12 as a first top board which is arranged on the bed 11, the upper top board 13 as a second top board which is arranged on the underlying top board 12 and keeps an object P placed on it, a gantry 14, a clamp part 16 as the upper top board moving part, a lower coil 17 as the lower coil element, an upper coil 18 as the upper coil element, an upper coil support member 19 as the upper coil element supporting member, a CPU 21, a RAM 22, a ROM 23, an input part 25, a memory unit group 26 and the like. The CPU 21 loads a top board moving control program and data necessary for executing programs stored in the ROM 23 into the RAM 22 and performs the process for controlling the movement of the top board in order to easily measure the wide-ranging region of interest with the small number of surface coils in accordance with the top board moving control program.
