Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for easy production of an unsaturated carboxylic acid-based crosslinked water-soluble polymer powder which is reduced in the amount of residual monomer. SOLUTION: The method comprises performing polymerization of a monomer, whose main component is a 3-5C unsaturated carboxylic acid, in a solvent that dissolves the monomer but does not dissolves the polymer using a radical initiator, separating a deposited slurry-type polymer, evaporating the polymer by heating, and continuing further heating of the obtained powdery polymer even after completion of solvent evaporation.
