SOLUTION: A control device (4) of an automation device is provided beforehand with information (I) which describes the automation system. The information (I) includes what kind of elements (1-4) the automation system has, how the elements (1-4) of the automation system cooperate and how safety-related reliability information is assigned to the individual elements (1-4) of the automation device.
