Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a substrate for a liquid crystal device and a method for manufacturing the substrate for preventing chips generated during a rubbing process from entering a display area, and to provide an electro-optic apparatus and electronic equipment using the substrate. SOLUTION: A counter substrate array 71 as a substrate for a liquid crystal device includes, on a mother substrate 81 as a substrate, a display area 10b subjected to an alignment process by rubbing, light-shielding films 23 and 53 segmenting pixels as well as segmenting a display area 10b, an interlayer insulating film 82 formed to cover the light-shielding films 23 and 53, a band-shaped projection 74 provided in a peripheral area outside the display area 10b to intersect the rubbing direction and extend along the display area, and an ITO film 83 as an electrode film provided so as to cover the surface where the band-shaped projection 74 is formed. The band-shaped projection 74 is formed to the height higher than the surface of the ITO film 83 in the display area 10b, so as to trap foreign substances generating during a rubbing process and to prevent foreign substances from entering other display area 10b.
