Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the capacity and performance of a disk drive device. SOLUTION: Data track pithes are set for each recording surface. The recording surfaces are divided into bands. An HDD sequentially moves to adjacent data tracks in a band and performs head switching at the band terminals. On a recording surface, the number of data tracks are variable, and the bands are each composed of different number of data tracks as necessary. The number of tracks on each band is set so that the radial position of each band terminal may be adjacent to the radial position of each band on another recording surface. By this, an increase in processing time in the head switching can be restrained between the recording surfaces which are different in variation rate in the radial directions of the data track pitches.
