Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the rear body structure of an automobile, capable of arranging a spare tire in a vehicle interior, improving safety for an occupant by increasing absorption capacity of impact energy in rear collision, and certainly protecting a fuel tank and the like. SOLUTION: In this body structure of the automobile configured in such a manner that an H-shaped torsion beam type rear suspension 12 formed by coupling the center portions of trailing arms 13, 14 through a torsion beam 15 is journalled to left and right side sill extensions 2a, 3a, a pair of left and right rear side frames 6, 7 extend backward of the body from both side sills 2, 3, a rear floor panel 11 is projected downward between both the rear side frames 6, 7 to form a spare tire pan 10, and two rear center frames 21, 22 extending in a longitudinal direction are arranged behind the torsion beam 15 and also joined to the lower surface of the bottom wall 10a of the spare tire pan 10.
