IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of obtaining a satisfactory image that is free from displacement and color shift resulting from color matching even if a housing or the like is deformed by heat generated by a polygon scanner. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes: an optical scanning device having an optical detecting means for detecting the sub-scanning direction of a light beam; a resist displacement detecting means for detecting an amount of resist displacement from information about an image developed on a transfer body; and a resist correcting means for correcting the amount of resist displacement by changing the emission timing of the light beam based on the result of detection by the resist displacement detecting means and the sub-scanning direction position of the light beam detected by the optical detecting means. In the image forming apparatus, after a printing preparation (S10), the resist correcting means is turned on (S12) after the optical detecting means is turned off (S11).
