DATA BACK-UP DEVICE AND METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new back-up technology capable of obtaining results of back-up corresponding to the necessity of back-up while reducing a user's burden. SOLUTION: This data back-up device for backing up the file stored in a first storage medium into a second storage medium is provided with: an obtaining means for obtaining the directory information in the first storage medium from the first storage medium, a first memory for storing the directory information, a second memory for storing the back-up conditions related to the directory information; a judgment means for judging that a file under directory corresponding to the directory information is backed up when the directory information stored in the first memory conforms to the back-up conditions stored in the second memory; and a means for reading the file which is judged to be a back up object from the first storage medium and recording it into a second recording medium.
