Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve problems that expansion of scale or an increase in frequency of resin regeneration is required to make purification accuracy compatible with through-put because the diffusion rate of an alcohol in an ion exchange resin is slow and an adequate method is not found even in regenerating a cation exchange resin in purification of the alcohol etc., and to provide a method for purification by which the high-speed purification with high accuracy is made possible and even the regeneration of the ion exchange resin can simply be carried out with the high accuracy. SOLUTION: The method for purification comprises carrying out the purification with the cation exchange resin having ≤8% degree of cross-linking in the method for purifying a water-soluble alcohol containing cationic impurities with the cation exchange resin. Furthermore, the method for purification comprises carrying out a step of replacing the water-soluble alcohol with water or the water-soluble alcohol with an aqueous solution for regenerating the ion exchange resin in a resin bed by passing an ascending current in a regeneration step of the cation exchange resin.
