Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly safe natural product-originated elastase inhibitor as a medicine. SOLUTION: The elastase inhibitor contains Digenea or an extract of the digenea. The Digenea is not limited to Digenea simplex but contains red alga belonging to the genus Digenea of Rhodomelaceae. The elastase inhibitor is useful for therapeutic and/or prophylactic agent of a disease such as pulmonary emphysema, adult respiratory distress syndrome, pulmonary fibrosis, bronchitis, pneumonia, rheumatoid arthritis, arteriosclerosis, sepsis, shock, pancreatitis and nephritis, caused by excessive decomposition of the elastin by the elastase, and can be utilized for a medicine, a quasi-drug, a food, a cosmetic or the like.
