Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wavelength conversion element, early detecting a temperature change of the wavelength conversion element itself and achieving the high efficiency for converting a wavelength, a light source device using the wavelength conversion element, an illuminating device, a monitoring device, and an image display device. SOLUTION: The wavelength conversion element for converting the wavelength of light includes: an optical crystal 15 having a polarization reversing part 18 as a first polarization part and a spontaneous polarization part 19, 20 as a second polarization part, which are opposite in polarization direction; and a first electrode 26 and a second electrode 27, which are temperature change detecting electrodes disposed in either the first polarization part or the second polarization part to detect a current or voltage according to a temperature change of the optical crystal 15.
