OIL ADSORBING MAT AND DEVICE FOR LAUNCHING OIL ADSORBING MAT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve problems that an oil adsorbing mat of chemical fiber, which is used because of adsorbing oil, absorbs water at the same time and submerged in the water and also causes troubles at the time of incineration/disposal while the oil adsorbing mat thrown onto the sea surface is hard to surely reach the location where the oil is desirably adsorbed due to the wind and the wave on the sea and thus is liable to be gathered at one location. SOLUTION: The oil adsorbing mat is a mat of 4 mm thickness of 50 cm square of fine natural fiber and has a plurality of through holes from the front face to the rear face. The oil adsorbing mat adsorbs the oil 40 times the volume but does not absorbs water. Also, the through holes increases adsorbing area of the oil. In order to send the oil adsorbing mat to the required sea surface, the oil adsorbing mat wound around a shaft core of a launching tube on a turn table fixed on a boat is launched by compressed air supplied by an air compressor.
