PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water heater superior in energy-saving performance and reliability, capable of serviceably supplying hot water and its heat energy generated by an operating heat source machine to a load, by preventing the situation of making a part of the hot water, flowed out of the operating heat source machine, flow in the stopped heat source machine. SOLUTION: This water heater has a plurality of heat source machines 1. These heat source machines 1 have a heat pump type refrigerating cycle for passing a delivery refrigerant of a compressor 11 through a water heat exchanger 13 and a water cycle for introducing water of a water supply side main pipe 2 to a hot water supply side main pipe 3 via the water heat exchanger 13 by a pump 24. The respective heat source machines 1 are provided with a first three-way valve 22 for controlling a flow of the water between the water cycle and the water supply side main pipe 2, and are provided with a second three-way valve 26 for controlling a flow of the hot water between the water cycle and the hot water supply side main pipe 3.
