When this electromagnetic wave shielding material 20 is to be manufactured, first the transparent base 21 is prepared, many first linear metal layers 22A arranged in one direction are formed on this transparent base 21 through mask vapor deposition. Then, many second linear metal layers 22B, arranged in other directions different from the one direction, are formed on the transparent base 21 through mask vapor deposition, and the mesh-like metal layer 22 is formed of these first linear metal layers 22A and the second linear metal layers 22B.
