Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic tensioner which can smoothly exert a clutch effect as one of variations. SOLUTION: The automatic tensioner is provided with a fixation member 1, an arm-shaped movable member 2, a pulley 3, and a coil spring 4. The arm-shaped movable member 2 is supported by the fixation member 1 with free rotation, and the pulley 3 provided to the arm part 2a of the movable member 2 can be brought into contact with a driving belt 102. Then the coil spring 4 energizes the movable member 2 in a predetermined direction with respect to the fixation member 1, and a spring clutch 5 which is brought into contact with the coil spring 4 from the outer peripheral side is provided.
