METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING GRANULATED MATERIAL OF METAL-CONTAINING BY-PRODUCT, AND GRANULATION EQUIPMENT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture, at a low cost, a granulated material using, as raw materials, metal-containing by-products, such as scale, and dust, both produced in a metallic material manufacturing process. SOLUTION: The metal-containing by-products produced in the manufacturing process of a metallic material and dust also produced in the manufacturing process are charged into granulation equipment in such a way that a ratio of the dust becomes ≥20 wt.%, and the resulting mixture is subjected to rolling granulation with the addition of water. Among all the granulated materials prepared by the rolling granulation in the granulation equipment, granulated materials having ≥5 mm grain size and excellent in handleability can be obtained. Further, the resulting granulated materials have a strength enough to endure collapse at conveyance etc. Moreover, because of the simple construction and low cost of the granulation equipment for rolling granulation, manufacturing costs of the granulated materials can also be reduced.
