CONTENT PLAYBACK APPARATUS, CONTENT PLAYBACK METHOD, AND PROGRAM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To select suitable contents to be reproduced next in accordance with an environment wherein channel selection and determination manipulations can be performed on a GUI screen when content highly likely to be viewed next by a user is selected and reproduced to some degree (reserve playback processing). SOLUTION: A content playback apparatus comprises two reception/playback processing systems each carrying out processing from a channel reception/selection to a certain stage of the playback processing. When a program to be selected (selection target program) is changed on an operation screen, in accordance with the change, the reception/playback processing system which is not being used for current playback output receives the selection target program and to carry out playback processing. When viewing of the selection target program is actually selected, signal switching is performed so that a subsequent playback output processing system outputs the result of reserve playback processing.
