METHOD FOR CUTTING OFF EXTRUDED MATERIAL

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for cutting off extruded material, which apparatus can improve the yielding ratio of standard size products obtained from extruded material, and further can surely divide a scrapping portion including all of defective portions, such as press joint affected portion, into a length to be easily handled. SOLUTION: A cutting-off apparatus 10 includes a travelling cutting-off means 25 which cuts off the extruded material 1 from an extruding press 31 synchronizing with the extruding speed of the extruded material 1 while travelling, a moved distance measuring means 26 for measuring the moved distance of the extruded material 1, and a control means 11 for controlling the travelling cutting-off means 25. The control means 11 controls the travelling cutting-off means 25 so as to cut off the extruded material 1 to a product length L based on the moved distance of the extruded material 1 measured by the moved distance measuring means 26. Further, the control means 11 dividingly cuts off the scrapping portion 5 of the extruded material 1 by the travelling cutting-off means 25 into a required divided length and a divided number, and also controls the travelling cutting-off means 25 so as to cut off the extruded material 1 at the rear end position D of the scrapping portion 5.
