Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for preserving vegetable biomass which avoids consumption of sugar, having an environmental adaptability with reduced cost. SOLUTION: The invention relates to the method for preserving vegetable biomass comprising preservation of the vegetable biomass in the presence of an aqueous solution of alkali, wherein the alkali agent is such as hydroxide, carbonate, hydrogen carbonate, etc., of an alkali metal or alkali earth metal or ammonia and the most preferable concentration of the alkali is 250-1250 mM which is the sufficient molar concentration for extinction or suppression of the proliferation of microorganisms living in the vegetable biomass. The preferable pH of the aqueous alkali solution is 8-14, and the preferable preservation temperature is normal temperature. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
