SIGNAL CONVERTING APPARATUS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a signal converting apparatus capable of effectively utilizing conventional voice telephone facilities. SOLUTION: The present invention relates to a signal converting apparatus which is provided in a base station side facility and connected with an asynchronous communication network, including: a receiving means for receiving a control signal from a mobile station via a base station or the asynchronous communication network; a means for converting a synchronous audio signal that the base station receives from the mobile station via a radio channel, into an asynchronous audio signal for a destination determined by the control signal; and a transmitting means for transmitting the converted asynchronous audio signal to the asynchronous communication network. Furthermore, the signal converting apparatus includes: a converting means for receiving the asynchronous audio signal from the destination specified by the control signal via an asynchronous audio communication network and converting the received signal into a synchronous audio signal; and a transmitting means for transmitting the converted synchronous audio signal to a radio base station such that the base station transmits it to the mobile station via a radio channel.
