Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus of high time resolution with afterimage generation restrained, equipped with an electron shutter function, and without producing sensitivity deterioration and picture deterioration by sensitivity unevenness or crosstalk. SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus includes an electron emission source array 250 with an electron emission source arranged in a matrix shape, a photoelectric conversion film 230 faced and retained by the electron emission source array 250, sequentially selects one or a plurality of horizontal scanning lines 257 for every video signal output period, then emits electrons to the photoelectric conversion film 230 from the electron emission source contained in the selected horizontal scanning line 257 to read out a video signal. At the selected one or the plurality of horizontal scanning lines 257, electrons are made to be emitted from the electron emission source to the photoelectric conversion film 230 during a retrace line erasure period right after the video signal output period, and a given retrace line erasure period except a retrace line erasure period just before the next video signal output period of the previous video signal output period.
