Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric discharge machining apparatus which suppresses the deflection of an electrode and reduces the load of a set-up work before the machining with a simple constitution. SOLUTION: A magnetized electrode 2 and a magnet 6 for generating the magnetic field M of the same polarity as that of a fore end 2a of the electrode 2 around a machining start position 4a of a workpiece 3 by the electrode 2 are provided on an electric discharge machining apparatus 1. The magnet 6 is coaxially arranged with the electrode 2 on a lower surface side of the workpiece 3 so as to symmetrically generate the magnetic field around the axis of the electrode 2.
