Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable release of generated heat from a light emitting element as a light source to the outside, through a simple structure while airtightness is secured. SOLUTION: The display device includes: a transparent light guide plate 1; a light source 4 installed along the end face 1a of the light guide plate 1 and composed of an LED element; a plurality of recesses that are installed on the light guide plate 1 and that have a reflection face for reflecting light source light entered from the end face 1a of the light guide plate 1 to the image display face side of the light guide plate 1; a substrate 21 on which the LED element comprising the light source is placed; protective plates 25, 26 that are provided on both the image display face side and the face oppositely facing this image display face, with the light guide plate 1 held in-between; and a metallic plate 27 that is installed between the rear face of the substrate 21 and the protective plate 26, that is extendedly formed along the end 26a of the protective plate 26, and that emits the heat of the LED element.
