Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device capable of reducing power consumption without degrading display quality, and an electronic apparatus equipped with the same. SOLUTION: The display device includes: an illuminance sensor 140 which detects the illuminance of external light to output an illuminance detection signal SK showing this illuminance; and a sensor control part 220 which outputs a mode switching signal SW for switching a display mode between a 16-bit mode and a 24-bit mode, in accordance with brightness shown by the illuminance detection signal SK. The sensor control part 220 switches a logical level of the mode switching signal SW so that the display mode is switched to the 16-bit mode in the case of the illuminance equal to or higher than a prescribed threshold and the display mode is switched to the 24-bit mode in the case of the illuminance lower than the prescribed threshold. In a graphic controller part 310, an image processing par 210, and a source driver 130, processing in the 16-bit mode or the 24-bit mode is performed in accordance with the logical level of the mode switching signal SW.
